Lilly finally turned one, and she couldn’t be more cute! The doctor now refers to her as ” her little howler”, and to Lilly’s defense the only time we’re in there is to get her shots. So, you can see where the “howler” comes from! She weighs a healthy 20 pounds and 10 ounces putting her in the 41st percentile ( this is huge considering she’s never been above 32!). She’s 31 inches long putting her in the 94th percentile for her age, and our little one has a big noggin that puts her in the 95th percentile!!!!!! The doctor told me that she’s just going to be a long lean little girl with bright blue eyes, and we couldn’t be happier with her. She’s starting to try to communicate a little better with us by saying “mama”, “dada”, “Bubba” (the neighbor’s dog), and she sometimes will say “go” and “hey”. It’s not been too frequent with the gos and hey, but we’re starting to get them a little more to classify them as her speaking words instead of random blurbs that come out of her mouth. She also knows what no is, but most of the time she still does what she wants to. Her favorite thing that I tell her no about all the time is the cat food. She picks up their water and food, and normally launches both all over the place! It’s great fun for her, and it has a habit of making me and the cats a little upset. She also likes to chase the cats around crawling, and if she can corner them in by the downstairs door she gets really close to catching them. They aren’t her biggest fans because of the tail pulling or random screaming at them. So far there has only been one case of scratching, and I don’t totally blame the cat like Paul does. Lilly grabbed Dolph’s tail, and she didn’t let go. He dragged her a few feet through the living room while I chased and laughed. He never turned around to swat at her, but in his attempts to take of he scratched her forehead. She has a little scar now that is starting to fade away. The scar can’t go away fast enough because Paul mentions it on a regular basis about how much he wants to grind the cat up for Lilly food! She’s also taken a couple good tumbles in her attempt to walk, and she gets back up with a few kisses ready to try again. Lilly is walking along things with little assistance, and she’s managed to go with me only holding one hand as she walks. We’re getting close! She’s also really good at sharing her food. You can ask her for a cracker or anything you want to risk eating, and she will normally give you as much as you ask for. Most of the time I stick to goldfish crackers or cheese, and she’s normally more than willing to share the soggy fruit or something that looks like it’s already been chomped on. She’s still a mommy’s girl, but she’s starting to want Paul all the time. I love it when she screams with excitement as soon as he walks in the door! I’ve only taken a couple new pictures, and I promise more when we have her birthday party in a couple days! Click here to see the newest photos of Lilly.

It really is amazing she’s one year old now. I won’t say the first few months flew by, because I believe they may have been the longest most tired days of our lives, but the last several have certainly flown by. Every day when I get home I am surprised with something new from Lilly whether it’s walking around a piece of furniture or she learned to make a new face. It’s been a great year and I look forward to the next ones. Happy Birthday Lilly
Congrats Lilly ! Turning ONE is a big happy day. I wish we could have been there to share it with you and all your family. We love seeing your pictures here, it is almost like we get to see you grow up! And you are growing so fast. I know your Grandpa Tom is one proud Grandpa. I can just hear the smile on his face when he talks about you ! We will get to see you in May so try not to book too many play dates, leave an afternoon for us!
Love you all
Aunt Kathy & Uncle Ken
Seeing Lilly turn ONE is truley amazing! She is growing up so fast. I am very thankful that Paul and Laura let me come over and see her so often. I’m not so much looking forward to her turning TWO – she’ll get there soon enough – but I do look forward to ONE+1 ; ONE+2; ONE+3; etc. She is growing and maturing every single day.
Lilly, your mom & dad still don’t believe me when I tell them that you say, “Grandpa, I love you very much!” whenever we’re alone. But that’s OK. We’ll keep it our secret. Besides, they might be a little less joyous about the meager “dada” and “moma” that you save for them.
I believe you old man.
