So, Lilly went to the doctor today. Thank goodness she only had to have one shot because I don’t think my nerves would have handled many more! She took it like a champ with some moderate tears, but everything was made better when we went to go get ice cream. She’s really growing well, and she’s 33 inches long putting her in the 98th percentile in height for her age. She also gained some weight making her almost 23 pounds. We still get the same response of she’s just going to be a long lean baby. I did get a little excited with the weight gain because she’s at the highest percentile she’s ever been which is 48th for weight. Unfortunately or fortunately Lilly has a big head. She shot up from around the 70’s to 96th percentile! I’m hoping it means she’s expanding for more room to learn some words! Lilly also has two molars coming in right now. We finally have an explanation for the loss of appetite and cranky moods lately. It’s hard to check for new teeth because she’s likely to bite your fingers off for sticking them in her mouth! She’s really become quite the daddy’s girl. Paul comes home from work, and she’s all over him! She just loves any game they play, and when he comes home I’m invisible for about the first hour. She’s comprehending more of what we tell her, and she’s willing to follow most of what we tell her half of the time! She loves to play outside with the chalk, and she manages to sneak a little in so she can write on the walls or floor. She got these cute markers for her birthday, and she likes to make a mess with them. Through trial and error I figured out the best place to do this is in her highchair. She’s contained to one spot instead of me chasing her down because she’s drawing on the walls!!! I never thought I would say this, but she’s become even more vocal with her shrieks and shrills! Most of the time she can make my ears ring after she starts screaming. As long as she only does this at home I’m fine with it. I only see this becoming a problem when we are out to eat! She really is growing like a weed, and it’s so much fun to see what new little things she learns every day. I’m sure we’ll be writing soon with some new task she’s figured out!

What a beautiful beautiful clown baby!! Who decorated her face and chest? If she did it to herself, she’s pretty proud of it. I can’t say I ever saw Paul with makeup on at any age, but I think I remember seeing Tom with some on – maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned that – what would Lilly think about her Grandpa wearing makeup? Maybe she will just see that as another opportunity to play dress up! You talk about Lilly’s attachment to Paul, I’m afraid she has Tom wrapped around all her little fingers, but he wouldn’t have it any other way. She looks like one happy baby girl! Mom and Dad must be doing something right.
She started to decorate herself mainly on her chest, and she thought it was hilarious when I painted her nose purple! I wish that I could have gotten a picture of her arms and legs because they were equally as decorated. She’s just so cute! I’m sure Paul will inform her more on Tom and his makeup. Lilly gets to see that picture on a regular basis!
I used to enjoy your blog postings. But now they just increase my “Lilly withdrawls” when I’m not with her. But keep it up – I’ll manage.
Tom with makeup?!?!, That puts a funny picture in your head. Oh, and we use the ice cream trick to. It works every time. 😉
