So we’re a little late in posting, but what the heck! Things around here get done when they get done!!! Lilly is a little weed as most of you can tell. She’s taken more after her dad than mom! Thank goodness for that because I don’t think I can go through another girl trying to find clothes to short legs! So she’s 39-1/2 inches tall!!! My kid is already over half my height!!! She weighs about 37 pounds which is amazing for being such a picky eater! She passed all the test for vision and hearing, and she gave them an earful when they asked her questions! We absolutely love our pediatrician, and it’s nice that Lilly is so comfortable with her. She also had to have a couple shots that she got over very quickly when I reminded her that she was getting ice cream for being so good. Secretly I wanted ice cream too, but she doesn’t have to know that just yet! Lilly’s verbal skills were great, and now if I can only get her to say those ABC’s without adding in her own version! That’s the goal for the summer – get Lilly recognizing her letters and saying them in order. Fingers crossed folks!

Well, Lilly has learned a new trick from papa. He’s taught her the “up high, down low, too slow” gag. I’m afraid that’s the end of normal high fives. It always “up high, down low….toooo slooowwwww”. I’ll try to get a video of her saying it soon.
Actually, Nana taught her the high five, too slow jingle while we were at the beach. Brought memories of Paul and his too slow moments.
I stand corrected about the up high, down low, too slow culprit. Additionally, I wanted to share another funny Lilly moment. This was a few weeks ago. As I was coming out of the bathroom I asked Laura if there was a cookie monster hiding in our bathroom because I noticed there were a lot of empty cookie wrappers in the trash can. She giggled and just said something like “yeah, there’s the cookie monster” pointing toward Lilly. Well, I guess Lilly thought there really was a cookie monster in the bathroom so she walked to the bathroom and cautiously opened the door and poked her head in the dark room. The next thing we heard was Lilly running out of the bathroom screaming. Apparently, the cat had just snuck in and that’s what Lilly saw moving in the dark. We all got a good laugh out of that.
This weekend we were at nana’s and papa’s house for the fourth of July weekend. We were in the pool for a long time when Laura asked Lilly why her lip was shaking; she was cold. Well, Lilly’s response was “Because it’s scared of my teeth.” I guess Bill Cosby was right.
Lilly’s little “sayings” are just up Papa’s alley – he will probably be creating a book shortly!
Although this can’t be described as one of Lilly’s little “sayings”, it comes close enough for my liking:
A couple of weeks ago I was babysitting at Paul’s house. Katie was napping so Lilly and I went out back to play on the swing set. I eventually stooped to pick some weeds while Lilly played (I don’t know what it is about me and weeds?). It was terribly hot and humid so it wasn’t long before I was pretty wet from perspiring. Later that day Lilly, Katie and I were all in Lilly’s bed playing and watching a DVD. Suddenly Lilly said to me – in perfect King’s English (or was that Southern Drawl?); “Papa. you staaaank!”
Have I told you lately how beautiful Katie is?
