Lilly is officially 10 months, and she’s everywhere! I thought and think that we have a normal sized baby until we ran into a little girl who I thought was Lilly’s age when I went to vote. She was actually 16 or 17 months old, and Lilly was still bigger than her! Lilly’s head was enormous compared to her, and I think that Lilly is more on the petite side! She’s taller now and you can tell that she’s put some weight on in her face! She has the cutest chubby cheeks you just want to kiss all the time! She’s got crawling down now, and she’s pulling up on everything. I really have to watch her because she’s fast at escaping my line of vision. I turn around for no more than 30 seconds, and she’s gone! She scared me the other day when I made a sandwich, and I turned around to not see or hear her anywhere! I immediately started looking towards the basement door thinking maybe she figured out how to go down the cat door. She wasn’t in our bedroom which is another favorite place of hers. Panic was quickly taking over at this point when I found her playing in her own room! It may have taken me only a minute or so to find her, but it felt like an eternity! I found her playing with her little leapfrog table standing up. We have a play yard for her that looks more like a fence, and it has become one of the best things! I call it the cage, and she visits it often now! I’ve also found her in the mornings when she wakes up standing in her bed holding on to her ladybug mobile! So I had to drop the bed down the the lowest setting which makes it impossible to lay her down after she’s fallen asleep in my arms! I need about 3 or 4 more inches on my legs or arms to get her down without completely dropping her! The ladybug mobile had to retire to the closet too! No matter how low the bed went, she wanted to try to grab those ladybugs! Also, she hasn’t figured out how to get down from standing. She’s taken a couple of good tumbles, and I try to be right behind her when she’s standing. She normally starts crying which is sad to say funny because you know that she’s not hurt just startled. You can give her a cheerio or a kiss, and she’s all better. I try not to baby her too much because I know that it only makes things worse when she does take a good tumble when she starts walking! She’s still as determined as ever to not say “mama”. I’ve promised her ponies and treats, but she still says “dada” when I ask her for “mama”. I think Paul sneaks in her room at night and tells her to only say his name when I ask her for mine. Maybe he’s already made the agreement with her about ponies or a nice car when she turns 16! She also likes to call Grandma on the phone at work. I swear that it sounds like she says hey to her, but you try to get her to repeat it with no luck! Lilly has also figured out how to clap her hands, and she knows just when to do it! I also taught her how to say no by shaking her head no at us. One day this is going to bite us in the rear, but for now asking her to say no is cute! She has her top two teeth in now, and it’s so cute to see her smile. I imagine by her birthday they should be in almost all the way! I think that she’s working on another tooth up top because she’s biting her fingers again. The doctor told us at her nine month visit that her top two teeth should start coming in during the next two months because they weren’t looking real swollen, and they came in the next week. So, I just give her teething cookies to attempt to give her a little relief of all the itchy pain! Lilly has been experimenting a little more with our food. She loves whole green beans. I also found out the she likes sherbet, and becomes a little terrorist (according to Paul) when you don’t share yours! I’ve never seen her react that way to anything even when she really likes something on my plate! So, I created a monster for ice cream! She also likes to eat my biscuit when we have Chick-fil-a. I’ve tried to get her to eat the chicken, but she would rather have the biscuit! It looks like the transition to real food instead of baby food is going to be easier than it was to get her to eat rice cereal! Now if I can only get that reaction to cow milk instead of my milk things are going to be great!!!!! Keep your fingers crossed! Click here to see the latest photos of of Lilly!
This is one of my favorite pictures yet. She’s got that devilish grin on her face like she just left a poopie under the pillow and is fleeing the scene of the crime knowing good and well mommy will find it when she goes to bed.
Yeah seeing her at your parent’s house Paul was indeed seeing a baby on NOS as she was zooming this way and that. Cannot imagine how it will be once she learns to walk and then run… wonder if I still have the “leash” my parents used on me… run Lilly dont let them rope you down like me!
