The Malones went to Florida again for summer vacation. We stayed in a condo one house away from the beach only a 5 minute walk from what I believe has been the nicest beach we have ever been to. There were only a few people, the beach was clean with sugar white sand and turquois water. Laura enjoyed laying out, the girls enjoyed looking for shells and playing in the sand. They weren’t terribly successful finding shells at Seacrest beach, so we decided to go to Shell Island.
After a short car and boat ride we made it to Shell Island. Its name is fitting. There are so many shells on the shore line, you almost need water shoes. Needless to say, we found lots of shells, even a few intact sand dollars, which made Laura squeal like a school girl. We even came across 2 crabs that allowed us to catch them with our shell nets. Lucky for them they were too small to eat!
We walked the 30A area a little looking for shopping and resturants. I have to say, the area is really neat, but a little lacking in the commercial industry. Nonetheless, it seems a cool place to stay for a while.
My wishlist item was put-put. We played 36 holes one night and I beat the ladies like it was my job. I was worried about Katie at first hitting 2 hole in ones in the first few holes, but the rest of the night proved that was a fluke. What was more evident is Katie is a dirty cheater. Dont trust her.
After put-put we subjected ourselves to a human maze. All of 5 seconds into the maze the girls ditched Laura and I. Some time later we spotted them from one of the towers. They were soooo lost. When we finally found each other, I asked Lilly how they planned to get out. She said “someone will eventually rescue us.” Their self preservation skills are not quite up to par yet!
We enjoyed several resturants including: Bayou Bills Crab House, Back Porch, Margarittaville, the Doughnut Hole, and our favorite Tommy Bahammas. When we didnt go out, Laura cooked a seafood feast of shrimp, scallops, fish, even lobster tail for the first time. After dinner most nights we played some Uno and watched TV for a bit before bed.
