We, and by “we” I mean Laura, decided to go to Orlando to visit the parks and take part in a timeshare presentation. I wasn’t sold on the timeshare idea, but Disney sounded like a good idea for the girls, so we headed out for a long weekend in Orlando. The timeshare program put us up at the Embassy Suites outside the parks, which if you haven’t been there has nice rooms and a fantastic breakfast for the family and manager specials for the adults. For our first full day we decided to go to Animal Kingdom. Laura had taken the girls there many years earlier, but it was my first time and the girls first time for all extensive purposes. After a few hours of walking around seeing all the animals and riding the safari ride we decided to head over to the Magic Kingdom for the rest of the day. I also had not been to the Magic Kingdom, so it was all new to me. My first surprise was finding out the only way to get to the park was by boat or train. My next surprise was the unthinkable… we actually convinced the girls to go on some rides. We started on the tea cups, progressed to “Dumbo The Flying Elephant” and amazingly almost everything else over the next day and a half. We eventually went on nearly all the rides including “Under the Sea Journey of the Little Mermaid”, “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Splash Mountain”, “Haunted Mansion”, “It’s a Small World”, “Disney World Railroad”, “The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train”, “Big Thunder Mountain Railroad”, and lastly “Space Mountain”. We even saw the fireworks spectacular both nights and one of the last Main Street Electrical Parades before they move to Disney Land.
