Katie turns one! It’s sort of amazing to see how time has just flown by. I know everyone tells you that when you have one kid you get to view their life at a much slower rate. However, having two kids is like watching shows with the fast forward button constantly pushed! Katie’s latest accomplishment has been the stairs. I’ve come to realize that Lilly and Katie are going to be the trouble twins. Lilly has taught Katie to have no fear in climbing in and out of the back door to the deck. She recently discovered that she can also scale the stairs down to the yard. Yes, this is all while I wasn’t looking because I was trying to get dinner on the table. One would think that it would be as simple as shutting the door, but you obviously haven’t met Lilly! Lilly loves to open the door and go in and out as she freely wishes. In case you need a bigger picture, it’s also been around the high 80’s with typical Georgia humidity. So the a/c is running all the time! I look out to see Katie sitting in the grass, and Lilly running through the backyard! These girls are going to give me heart problems soon! Katie really does love trying to do anything like her sister. They play with dolls together, and Lilly’s favorite thing is to try to dress Katie up. She likes to put silly hats on her, and when Katie is finally standing to walk I’m sure Lilly will figure out how to get all those princess gowns on her! Katie is also fascinated with outlets. This I’m really not thrilled with due to the fact that as a young child I also had a fascination with outlets that allowed me to visit the hospital because I electrocuted myself. We’ve done our best with the outlet covers, but she really likes trying to get to the outlet that has things plugged in. I only hope that she doesn’t share the same fate as her mother! It wasn’t very fun! Well, more to come when we get in to see the doctor. I’m excited to see just how much she’s grown! Until then…

Unfortunately, Katie did not get a big fancy party with lots of kids and presents for her first birthday, but she did get to celebrate it with family in a house on the beach in Panama City. So far she hasn’t held it against us. I think we are going to have a small party next week for her in the backyard with an inflatable jumpy room borrowed from one of Laura’s friends and an outdoor movie when it gets dark. If you’re asking yourself how well a one year old can play in an inflatable moon room the answer is not well, but mommy thinks it will be fun. You might also ask yourself what movie Katie will watch on her birthday. Well the answer is none; she will be long asleep before that movie ever starts. Maybe we’ll go to a winery or a bar or a club or anything else you’re not old enough for your next birthday. All kidding aside, Happy birthday Katie, we love you.
