We had our first camping experience this weekend with the girls and it went much better than I expected. I always really enjoyed camping as a kid and want to give the girls a chance to experience it, but I have concerns they won’t like “roughing it”, so we camped in the backyard for the first time. We threw up the tent, some chairs and a small barbeque grill. We cooked s’mores over the grill, told camp fire stories and made shadow animals in the tent. I was certain one or both of the girls would not be able to sleep outside for one reason or another, but boy was I wrong. Give them some sugar and a flashlight and they were ready for anything. After a few minutes of making shadow animals on the tent with our flashlights everyone was out like a light and slept through the night without any problems. The weather was great, we barely even needed covers. Lilly has already said several times how much fun she had, so I’m sure we’ll do it again soon. Maybe this time we’ll get mommy to come along.
