I’ve been feeling a little guilty that we didn’t go on a vacation or even do anything too out of the ordinary this summer before Lilly and Katie start school again, so we decided to visit the Atlanta Zoo this weekend. It doesn’t make up for anything, but it was actually a lot of fun and I think we all had a good time. The last time we went to the zoo was a little over four years ago when Lilly was just one and before Katie was even born. We packed a picnic lunch and headed to the zoo pretty early to beat the crowds accompanied by Nana and Papa. The weather was near perfect. The temps were in the low 80’s and it sprinkled once or twice, but honestly it was kind of refreshing. We saw the obligatory monkeys, lions, tigers and bears… (oh my) and one demented baboon, seriously, it had issues. I’d like to say the highlight for the girls was the gorilla exhibit (my favorite), or the reptile house(Laura’s favorite) or the petting zoo(Purell’s favorite), or the train ride with Papa, or the cool treats with Nana, but it was most likely the gift shop. Nana bought them each zoo shirts and battery powered fans. Thanks for that by the way; all I heard the whole way home was the humming of those little fans. We ended with a quick picnic in Grant Park. A few minutes into the car ride home, the girls were sleeping and Papa was snoring. We all had good naps when we got home.

I can’t get over how big the girls are getting. About too big for you to carry them Laura. Such pretty girls!
